In desperate need of ASV
In desperate need of ASV
Hi everyone , I am new to the group and newly diagnosed with severe complex sleep apnea. I was initially told by the DME provider that the ASV set up would cost $800 and then $500/month!! I absolutely cannot afford this . I called them back a couple months later once I had made my deductible. They are now saying it will be $200 for set up and $150 a month until January which then it will jump back to $500 a month. I cannot afford this . I am dealing with so much cardiac anxiety that my quality of life has suffered. I developed stage 2 hypertension and I also have SLE so I'm experiencing alot of flare ups that are affecting my kidney function. I know i am not the only one suffering so please forgive the ' woe is me' vibe. I just wanted to give a short explanation of what I'm currently facing and see if any of you know of anyone who knows how or where to get an ASV. I know there are used ones for 1000-2000 which I do not have . I could make $50/month payments but since my credit is brand new care credit and affirm are denying. Is there any hope for someone in my situation? Thank you for taking the time to read this .
Re: In desperate need of ASV
I may know someone who can help you. Let me contact him and see if he still has an old one that you could use.
His brother passed away a while back and was using an ASV.
I don't know if he still has it or not. I will get back to you or have him contact you via private message here.

Re: In desperate need of ASV
I could maybe help with masks. Do you have trouble breathing through your nose at night which might mean a full face mask is needed or is your nose mainly clear at night where we could use some sort of nasal mask?

Re: In desperate need of ASV
I can sell you a 0 hour Respironics Dreamstation ASV machine for $600 if you want.
Please note that these machines have been recalled due to a foam concern. It will still function normally and then in the future you can eventually get a Resmed ASV or something. The foam is also removeable without causing any damage to the machine by using a drain weasel. I have removed foam on my current ASV machine so I can do it for yours too if you would like.
Anyways I hope you can find your machine

Re: In desperate need of ASV
I can ship you my old Philips Respironics BiLevel AutoSV System One Advanced machine for $250 + whatever the shipping cost will be. It comes with the heated humidifier, the original manuals and start up guide, 2 new, never used washable and reusable sponge filters, 3 sealed in bags disposable white air filters and a 4th new air filter already in the machine (white and clean). Also comes with a clear hose that is like new, the cord to plug it in, and the original carrying case.
It has a little over 4,000 blower hours, the equivalent of only about 1.5 years of use. So a lot of life left.
I also have a full face hybrid mask set called the ResMed Mirage Liberty. The whole starter kit with the manual and instructional CD, the mask, 1 Small, 1 Medium, and 2 Large nose pillows, headgear, frame with elbow and tube, plus the mask's carrying case. I tried to use the mask once but have other masks I prefer.
If interested PM me and I will send photos. For some reason they won't upload here.

Re: In desperate need of ASV
Your cheapest solution is to buy a used Airsense 10, replace the blower motor, and Airbreak it.

Re: In desperate need of ASV
Does airbreak mean its like an exact copy of the ASV version in terms of like the hardware (motor motherboard) just like a software change?

Re: In desperate need of ASV
The Airsense 10 hardware is perfectly capable of performing all of the Aircurve functions, it's just limited by the firmware, so Airbreak just replaces the firmware.

Re: In desperate need of ASV
So the thousands of dollars price difference is firmware only? That is insane if so

Re: In desperate need of ASV
I call it: greed.
The Airsense/Aircurve 11 difference includes the hardware: the blower motor in the Aircurve 11 is substantially stronger than the Airsense 11, as you'd expect.
The perfect target for Airbreak is one of the Airsense 10 C2C (Card-to-Cloud) machines made during Covid when Resmed couldn't get enough modem chips. The C2C is completely standalone and never reports anything back to Resmed.

Re: In desperate need of ASV
The AirSense chipset has been proven capable of accepting and running AirCurve BiPAP and ASV firmware. The hardware, and specifically the motherboard, is not identical however. More importantly, it hasn't been definitively proven (like with real scientific laboratory tests and stuff like that) that a hacked AirSense machine running pirated AirCurve S/VAuto/ST/ST-A/ASV firmware functions identically to the real deal.
For reference, the following screenshot is from the Air10 series Service Manual parts pages:
