Humidifier Question

Post by Nickjosh » Wed May 20, 2026 4:58 pm

How often does your Cpap humidifier make a difference in your usage or comfort?

What if there was a way to humidify Cpaps, Vpaps, and oxygen therapy without using liquid water? It would be cool humidity instead of needing heat to produce humidity. It would have a higher Relative humidity %. It would not need electricity to power it so you would save 2/3rds of total electricity to run a Cpap. You would not need a heated tube because there would be no condensation produced because it will be the same temperature or a little cooler than your room temp. Your humidifier would last 3-5 nights without adding water(recharging). There can be real humidity with any Travel Cpap!

Oxygen Pt's would be able to take the humidifier with them whenever they go out because without being in a liquid form it is now mobile. Pt's having a hospital stay won't have to endure going to radiology or going through any test without having humidity. Did you know any vehicle of oxygen without humidity runs from 0-5% relative humidity! Now you understand why your Pt's complain about dryness and have bloody noses.

What If....

You don't have to use the heated hose to use humidity. Just a standard slimline hose works great. In 19 years, I have never used a heaated hose. My humidity runs between 3 and 6 depending on the seasons. I have very rarely had any condensation.

Let me guess. After teasing us with your info you'd be more than happy to sell us such a device, right?

What if waterless humidification has already been available for CPAP therapy for over a decade now? (HDM first introduced it on their Z1 travel machine in 2013, and Resmed followed similarly with their AirMini launch in 2017.)

What if it's scientifically impossible to create humidity without first evaporating or sublimating heated liquid water into a gas, such as air?

What if "waterless" heat moisture exchangers (HME) devices simply just recycle existing humidity from exhaled air back to inhaled air?

What if HME re-humidifier cartridges don't last very long, such as only for "3-5 nights" before requiring replacement?

What if "waterless humidification" of PAP therapy air doesn't work very well compared to real humidification created by heating liquid water with electricity?

What if all of the above is why very few PAP patients have switched to "waterless humidification", and why even fewer are raving about it in internet forums such as this?

What if the average U.S. $0.18/kWh electricity cost for operating a 60W humidified Resmed CPAP machine for 8 hours/day calculates to less than $0.09 per day?

What if waterless PAP therapy "humidification" actually costs a lot more than real humidification generated from real liquid water, yet provides an inferior therapy experience?

What if...
