How do I find a reputable private provider of CPAP in NYC?

Post by eoram » Thu May 07, 2026 6:04 am

I am desperate. I have been suffering for 3 months with increasing exhaustion and headaches and the Weill Cornell Sleep Center is slow-walking this process. I got a titration study over a week ago, it is still pending, and now I am told it will take a month after that is finalized to go through a DME vendor in NYC.

Please, experienced people: how do I bypass insurance entirely at this point, get the titration study to a private vendor and get my CPAP? Is this possible? My children are worried about me and want to pay out of pocket for the equipment. And I am desperate to get my life back. But the hospital just says "this is our process". Isn't that titration study my property and where would I take it to get the CPAP programmed? Not to mention, how do you get the masks and all the other equipment?

Thank you to this community.

Sleepquest in San Carlos, California has an online store and will ship everything to you. Once you have the sleep study, you can pay like $50 to meet with a doctor online so you can get a prescription, so you can buy your supplies from them (if you don’t have a prescription from another doctor(.

There are multiple online DME’s that can do at home sleep studies and provide a prescription for a machine and supplies if indicated. Cpap.com, Thecpapshop.com, respshop.com are a few that come to mind. You meet online with a provider, they send you a at home sleep study, and then provide a prescription if needed. Most don’t take insurance so you would have to pay out of pocket. You may seek reimbursement from your insurance company, but it depends on your particular policy if they reimburse for out of network care.

Offers explaining how to get a home test done...yada yada yada
are pretty much not particularly useful information.

Go over to Cornell and tell them you want both studies on CDs with the Physician Reader.

Load to some third party server and post link.

Buy a machine from LSAT. Get mask from wherever.

If you hurry and catch the 4 train you can get everything done by Monday.
