Is there a better CPAP device for me?

Post by egoody » Tue Feb 24, 2026 12:16 pm

Attaching my original sleep study. Since then I've always used the AirSense10 with a preference for the F30i. Never lasted too long after probably 10 tries.
I've tried chin straps, mouth tape, cervical collar, full face, nose masks.
Currently using a wedge pillow to help with snoring, which it does.

Willing to shell out for any equipment that might work better...

Appreciate the consideration!

Sounds like you need a better fitting mask, not a better machine. You already have the best machine out there.

You could make the jump to 11 like I did but a lot of people seem to diss it around here,

That's because the difference between 10 and 11 series machines isn't a jump at all. It's more like a step sideways in that both machine's features and settings are identical.

And it's a stumbling step backwards when you compare the 11's cost-cutting shift to a smaller nosier blower motor, a smaller humidifier water tub, and lack of rotating 90 degree hose connection.

Just because you have one doesn't mean it's a superior machine, or that it's helpful to recommend it to others.

It's not the machine.

People having difficulty adjusting to CPAP have the following issues, in order of frequency:
1. The mask is uncomfortable, leaky, noisy, or just cannot get used to it.
2. The settings on your machine.
a. Typically your provider may have put you on a ramp setting where the pressure starts out very low and then slowly increases to the prescribed pressure. In theory the idea is that you will be asleep before the full pressure is reached, so it won't "bother" you, but the reality is that you can feel like you are suffocating at very low pressures. Most of us turned off the ramp within the first week. Also if the machine is set to auto adjust between the lowest and highest settings, it starts out at the lowest setting and you again may feel like you are suffocating at low pressure.
b. You are uncomfortable with what feels like too much pressure.
c. You are breathing through your mouth and your throat is very dry.
d. You are having a lot of nasal congestion.
e. You are getting water in your hose.

If you can be specific about what is causing you to give up, we can help with all of the above and more.
