Can't sleep these days(anxiety and panic attacks) and unfortunately become reliant on sleeping pills, but I do need to sleep, albeit now very erratically, an hour or two at a time, and some say that talking zolpidem in particular, can give false readings. Is this true as I read it can alter arousals and apnea patterns in some people with sleep‑disordered breathing? Plus 5mg now just about gives me a few hours if that and 10mg, leaves me knocked out the next day. Another thing I noticed that having dental issues as in failed implants and wearing the chinstrap has changed my jawline somewhat and now without it, I tend to leak more, but my mouth keeps wanting to just stick out(as if Im trying to hold onto something?) and have difficulty in relaxing it, whilst trying to to keep my mouth shut? Side and stomach sleeper and tried all the masks. Nasal pillows probably the best for me and unfortunately have an autoimmune disorder and the Mestinon tablets I take actually causes excess saliva, forcing the mouth open and again, events not consistent.
But Dental stuff very expensive indeed as you know, trying to find the answer after 3 years now, but by not sleeping well, as in at least 4 hours minimum at a time, lying awake with the hose on, is going to give higher events anyway. Don't mean to go of topic as such, but I don't want anti-depressants and the heavy stuff(trazodone, etc..)as have nightmares plus tried very low dose legal THC and the cbd lightweight gummies and they don't work for me. Anyone having the same issues and advice more than appreciated. As, if I can't sleep well, wondering why I'm aggravating my teeth issues further with my machine. Not going back to sleep center for a third study overnight and this weekend trying the Watchpat one at home test, for an independent review. (rightly or wrongly!)

Zolpidem can change sleep architecture and may slightly alter arousal patterns, so in some people it can affect sleep study results, but it does not usually create false apnea events on its own. It can, however, relax airway muscles and make existing sleep apnea look worse. Your dental changes and jaw position could also be contributing to mouth opening and mask leak, especially if your bite or chin support has shifted. Excess saliva and anxiety can make this worse at night. It would be best to review both the medication and your CPAP data with your sleep specialist and dentist together, because jaw alignment, mask fit, and medication timing can all interact.bran wrote: ↑Fri Feb 20, 2026 5:04 pmCan't sleep these days(anxiety and panic attacks) and unfortunately become reliant on sleeping pills, but I do need to sleep, albeit now very erratically, an hour or two at a time, and some say that talking zolpidem in particular, can give false readings. Thx for your response. Yes I keep wanting to stick my jaw out all the time, as if Im trying to hold onto something like pressing my mouth around my teeth and I really cannot get on with the chin-strap at all which I believe has been the culprit.
