Air 11 heated tube lifespan

Post by Vinny V » Sun Jan 11, 2026 10:02 am

Ok short back story back in 2017 I was using a Phillips dream station I used it for about 2 + years before the recall and I stopped, during the time I used it I got over a year out of the heated tube before I had to replace it,

Now I have a new Airsense 11 just about 10 months and I'm replacing the heated tube for the 3rd time and its not covered by insurance.
Is it just me or has the lifespans on the tubes gotten shorter

Thanks

What kind of failures are you having? My 10 series hoses last pretty much forever.

Why isn't your insurance covering the cost of the replacement?

I don't know what the approved replacement time period is, but they most certainly will cover the cost if the correct amount of time has elapsed, at least my insurance does.

FYI I replace my heated hose once per year, but it can be replaced and covered more often than that.

Do not regret growing older. It is a privilege denied to many...

It takes less time to do a thing right than to explain why you did it wrong.

It's 1 per 3 months for at least Medicare and most insurance companies follow Medicare guidelines.
HCPCS code A4604 for heated tube/hose
and code A7037 for the non heated tube/hose is also 1 per 3 months.

My insurance does not cover a heated tube, so I have to out of pocket and it seemed strange that they were going bad so fast

My insurance company said they would cover whatever my doctor ordered but he said mask cushion every 3 months and hose 1a year.

Thanks

So they do cover it, just your not prescribed it might be with having your doctor adjust your prescription to include everything you may need.

I know my prescription he pretty much check boxed everything and left any specifics out. So that left it up to me to decide what I wanted in terms of what machine to use and mask.

My dme vendor just extremely terrible at communicating and speed otherwise I've gotten everything I've specifically requested.

But my insurance says general guideline is they replace hose and headgear every 3 months. Water chamber 6 months. Cushion and fillers every month. But it should last a little longer than that, I've seen post of people having them for a year and by then they have a back up until they notice severe leaks

Consider that it's the machine frying hoses (assuming that no heat is what you're talking about).

Hmm I’m not sure on life span as I have a climate line tube on my air sense 11 it has like a little electronic chip on the end that goes in the machine. I suppose they normally last quite awhile I switch out between 2 tubes currently when I wash the tubing each week I put the dry one on while I wash the dirty one. I belive that depending on the dme and the replacement schedule supplies usually come in a 90 day supply and that includes one tube at minimum.

Umm... no, it doesn't. That's a 4-wire male electrical connector. 😂

At the end of the hose near where the mask connects there is a 'thermistor' (temperature sensitive resistor) or similar component that monitors the temperature to prevent hose condensation. On a AS10 Climateline hose (three pin connection) at room temperature the resistance of the sensor is approximately 13 kOhms. Looking at the mask end of the hose it's a small rectangle block that sticks up inside the hose. The AS11 is likely similar, but with a 4 pin connection.

Okay so that’s what that is. I remember having a similar end on my old tubing when I was using the other cpap. That makes sense.
