Feeling tired with sudden increase of centrals
Feeling tired with sudden increase of centrals
I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea (70 events, mainly hypopnea) in December of last year. I have using the Airsense 11 with P30i nasal mask in the small frame/small nose piece. I have consistently had my EPR set at either 2 or 3, air pressure set at a constant 13 pressure, and auto humidity, no ramp. I am not sure what causes my apnea, but I am obese and that could mainly be the problem but I snored even as a skinny child so it is hard to say. When I got diagnosed with sleep apnea I was 250lbs. Over the past year I had gained weight and went up to 282lbs at my highest. On September 1st of this year I started taking Tirzepatide and have lost 34lbs and now down to 248lbs. Since starting this in September I have been having problems. Before I rarely dealt with central apnea events and would primarily have 1-2 obstructive. I used to feel well rested before September and also rarely had leaks. Recently I had to start using mouthtape because my mouth wants to gape open and I get almost 20 leaks without it. Although sometimes my saliva loosens it and I get leaks. I have been feeling almost like I am out of breath when I wake up as well. Attached are some data from August and December.

Re: Feeling tired with sudden increase of centrals
You might want to do some research on the Tirzepatide medication that you started in Sept which coincides with when you started having unwanted symptoms.
Increased fatigue is a well known and common side effect from all those sorts of meds.

Re: Feeling tired with sudden increase of centrals
I do know it can cause fatigue but could it also change how many centrals I get as well? I am surprised it could effect me this much. On cpap before I could wake up on the weekends at 8am refreshed, and now can easily sleep in until 12pm.
Re: Feeling tired with sudden increase of centrals
Are you absolutely dead certain that those centrals flagged are real asleep centrals and not post arousal/awake flagged centrals.
If you aren't for sure asleep then the centrals are just a symptom of poor sleep but not necessarily the cause of the poor sleep or fatigue.
If you can use SleepHQ software then we can zoom in and look at the breathing pattern associated with the flagged event and maybe figure out if you were for sure asleep or maybe awake.
See this......I have a gazillion of such examples.
