What type of flow limitation is this?

Post by boogiemoogie » Fri Sep 05, 2025 2:58 pm

The past few days I have been waking up with my heart racing. Looking at the data, it seems that there some sort of flow limitation/airway collapse right before waking up, but I’m having trouble interpreting what is actually happening. I’ve scoured the internet for flow limitation examples and the closest match seems to be an expiratory flow limitation?

I’m not sure if my epap/ipap or ps need to be increased or decreased. I have hovered around ±2 of all of those settings over the past year with no noticeable difference, except that higher PS tends to make me lightheaded. My current settings are EPAP 7, PS 2.6. Last night I did try EPAP 8 and that seemed to help with obstructive apneas, but I'm still feeling quite foggy during the day.

In the first one, notice how you took a deeper breath just before the event? It looks like you had a brief arousal. The event is a post-arousal event. Harmless.

BTW, if you use a free account at SleepHQ.com, you can just post a link in this thread. We can zoom in for ourselves and you don't have to bother with formatting and sharing a screenshot. Your personal information is redacted in the link.
