frequent respiratory infections

Post by Pizurica » Thu Jun 26, 2025 3:17 am

Hello everyone. I have a problem with frequent sinus infections, bronchitis, etc. I don't know if I'm imagining it, but it all started when I started using the CPAP device. So I've been using it for about 6 months and this is the third time I've been sick. I can't say for sure that it's because of that, but I've never had such problems. I wash the device every day...all parts. I currently have bronchitis and unfortunately I think I'll have to stop the therapy. Horrible

You've been sick a few times in the last six months.
You started using CPAP about 6 months ago.

Therefore CPAP caused it??????????

No.

Have you talked to a doctor, respirologist, allergist, etc. to find out more?

Are you using a cpap machine humidifier? If so, at what setting?

dog slobber ...I hope not because CPAP helps me, but the fact is that I have sinus and bronchial infections right at this time of use.

julie...my doctor said it's possible because no matter how much you wash the device and parts, they are not sterile. And we breathe through it into our lungs for 8 hours

it is recommended to use distilled water for the device. When you buy distilled water ... at least here in Croatia and you read the declaration on it, it says that the water is obtained by the demineralization process???? . The problem is that distilled and demineralized water are not the same. Distilled water is obtained by evaporation and condensation of water and it is pure, while demineralized water is pure from minerals but not from potential bacteria and pathogens. And on the bottle it says distilled water??

It’s reassuring to hear this because I have as well become sick and I wash pretty regularly. I’ve had walking pneumonia, strep throat, and just got over a sinus infection. I’ve had to take so many anti biotic to get rid of them because they last for weeks. I don’t know what to do to help it because I do need my cpap.

Living in our world is not sterile - just be conscious and careful within reason about stuff and you should be fine.
