Surge protection in Africa

Post by catpire » Sat May 10, 2025 8:14 am

I will be traveling to Zambia later this month and have a Z2 Auto Breas CPAP. The machine is rated for 110-240v input, but my RT said I should use a surge protector as well. The only surge protectors rated for 230v or above that I can find are big, industrial devices that aren't really practical for travel. I know the device will work with the local voltage, but does anyone have experience with using higher voltage surge protectors? And are they really necessary?

Amazon lists plug adapters that have built in surge protection. Look at something like Ceptics World Travel Adapter. I have a Z1 I've used overseas without issue. The main thing is under no circumstances use a 120v surge protector with a 230V source.
