OSCAR Metrics Feedback/Adjustments?

Post by JasonBL » Thu Aug 15, 2024 12:43 pm

Hi - I am just getting started with CPAP therapy and am trying to determine any adjustments I may need with my OSCAR data. Attached is my OSCAR data of my most recent night. I would really appreciate any thoughts or feedback.

-At home sleep study results from Wesper were showing ~20 AHI
-I use an N20 nasal mask with mouth tape, Side sleeper
-I am definitely waking up to the point where I am aware of the wake up more with the cpap, but can fall back asleep quickly
-Resmed AirSense 11: 7-9 Pressure Range, EPR of 3, no ramp
-The main difference I have noticed is my resting heart rate is lower with the therapy. I would say I am waking up a bit less tired, but not dramatically. Does this generally take more time to feel the improvement?

Thank you!

The improvement is immediate if your CPAP therapy is optimized and you are sleeping well. But, you indicate you are having a lot of awakenings. It can take some time to adjust to sleeping with CPAP.

Here is probably the reason ---------->

Don't judge how well you slept when you arise in the morning. Near bedtime, make a judgment. Were you energetic during the day? Did you have any excess sleepiness? At bedtime are you fatigued but not stressed?

I wouldn't make any adjustments. You are showing too many Clear Airway events. These are most likely transitional events as you fall in and out of sleep. They are not of concern. As you begin to adjust and sleep with fewer awakenings, the CAs should lessen.

BTW, most of the regulars set their maximum pressure to 20.0. The machine will not go any higher than needed. However, if you need additional pressure because you had a bad day or congestion, the machine can go higher than the 9.0 max you have now.
