DME charging for Brevida exhalation port

Post by paulyofpa » Thu Aug 15, 2024 8:49 am

Is it just me, or does this smell? Why are they charging for something that's built in to the mask?
I contacted my insurance company and they say its normal? What the heck?

I have never seen this mask. Are you talking about the elbow?

When the DME bills the insurance companies, they always bill each mask component as if it was being purchased by itself. That way, they can get a little more money. The total price actually paid by the insurance company is less than what you would pay if you purchased the mask outright.

You can also do the math, factoring your insurance premiums, etc.
against the total related cost of what you need.
Don't forget about the frustration of dealing with those mf-ers vs unexpected expenses.
All kinds of fun, kids!

They charged you for the humidifier on your CPAP, too, even though it's integrated into the unit and cannot be removed.
