My last post here ...

Post by dsm » Fri Apr 06, 2007 2:17 am

maybe after all the excitement about Pur-sleep and self being the absolute lab rat extremeo supremo, I am going to sacrifice myself in the interests of Pur-sleep improvements.

I haven't got round to trying it yet so am announcing now that if you fail to see another post here from me, then you can all be assured that Pur-sleep wiped me out in one fell swoop. Why, because I am going to take a cocktail of flavours on my very 1st go !!!.

Now I know that common sense says that I should start with a more cautious programme and taking 'cocktails of any drug (oil) is dangerous in the extreme but by now, y'all must know how fearless this extremo is

But also being very thorough, I will detail step by step the more cautious programme any normal person should follow who wishes to enjoy the potentially nefarious pleasures of the Pur-sleep product.

(Cautious Programme steps ... (tm))

Step 1: 1st nights place 'Pur-sleep Universal In-Line Diffuser for CPAP Machines' (tm) next to xPAP machine so it gets used to it

Step 2: after one decimal week (5 days) place empty diffuser in the air circuit

Step 3: after one decimal week of allowing your xPAP to get used to the empty diffuser - examine your: AHI HI AI, Minute Ventilation, Leak rate, Breath Rate, Pressure levels, SpO2 and look for the slightest variation from the norm over the prior 5 days compared the the previous 5 - IF YOU FIND ANY VARIATION , *IMMEDIATELY* remove the unloaded diffuser from your air circuit a book a trauma session with your respiratory specialist

Step 4: if steps 1 - 3 progressed normally we can introduce the 'mouse' into the diffuser (the mouse is the little pad that we apply the oil to). Follow the instructions to scent the mouse.

Step 5: Use the Pur-sleep device.

NOTES: You must make sure the mouse is correctly in his house as if he isn't snug as a bug in a rug, he will dart around inside the clear part of the diffuser like a demented jack rabbit on the night of a full moon - Hmmmm, yes while we are talking of full moons, do not start the oil therapy section of these steps on the 1st night of a full moon - the last thing we want to introduce is a any kind of a 'tic' (see ref http://www.pep-web.org/document.php?id=ijp.002.0001a )
Lunar 'tics', can occur for the unwary trying anything odd or new on the 1st night of a full moon - this is historical medical fact and not to be sneezed at. The last thing any of us want is to be is remembered by a Lunar 'tic' we accidentally caught while messing around.

Wish me well fellow xPAPERS for tis a noble deed I am about to undertake on your behalf and in the interests for the FDA, the oil companies, the developers of Pur-sleep, and respiratory well being in general.

If no more posts from moi - then there will be no more Pur-sleep.

DSM

PS: Last Will and testament ...

I hereby declare that Pur-sleep and its associated products and producers to be totally freed from any class action law suit that may originate from my demise should such transpire while self was taking a cocktail of oils on my very 1st night of use.

Signed DSM Sydney Australia.

#2 PPS:

PS should a post mortem be required, tell the respiratory researcher that the cocktail used was 3 drops of 'paradise', 2 drops of 'spice' and 1 drop of 'clear'.

Au Revoir, a bientot (Aussie trans: see yer later mate)

#3: - 5 minutes into setting up - report 1 - Jeeze, these thinks pong like a granny at an Easter family gathering but it is such a nice comforting and reassuring wiff - ahh well got 3 hrs to go before lites out & paradise

#4: Hmm, I wonder if Pur-sleep can be talked into investigating some new pongs for their xPAP bongs (that comment I stole from another poster) - things like ... (ahhhh lets wait to get thru the 1st night cocktail)

#5: Added as a disclaimer - I really am trying Pur-sleep for the 1st time tonight - as outlined (3 scents as detailed) and the unit looks to me to be as innocent as adding another 1 foot of hose to your air circuit which anyone with an Activa or UMFF mask does when they get one. In other words this looks like a great idea that as been unfairly dissed and what I am really doing here is making a very strong point - D.

Your post was tongue in cheek, but I just figured you might want to know that you might find that mixture a bit potent (being comprised of 6 drops and all).

Didn't I add that as well as a cocktail I was going to od !!!

Actually the true reason is I shook 1 drop to many onto the mouse but then I thought of all the Parkinsons' sufferers who might be on cpap & obtain a Pur-sleep & accidentally put more on that they should so I figured that while I was feeling so brave I'd kill 2 birds with one drip (extra drip that is).

I was shocked to see that you would announce this in advance, but then I got to #5 and see you are doing it tonight. I doubt that a certain lady and our FDA can get a flight to Sydney quickly enough to break down your door and stop you tonight.

What a noble fellow to sacrifice yourself in the pursuit of science, or at the very least, in the pursuit of humor.

Unfortunate you don't have an identical twin. That would afford the perfect case-control study, epidemiologically speaking, one using the "real" essential oils, the other a placebo of some kind (water, Vicks®, mineral oil, picrotoxin, polychlorinated biphenyl, etc.). And if the "other" twin met it's demise, well too bad, leaving the "other other" twin (50:50 that would be you) to carry on the excellent investigational reporting and dialogue that we have come to expect, respect and admire.

That would obviate other issues as well, like the impending custody battle over your xpap collection. (Sorry bookwrm, I DEMAND at least HALF of those toys!! Which would equate to a small fortune).

Meanwhile, best of luck to yah MAYEEEETE!

Doug, 6 drops for 8hrs...better be careful where you exhale the next morning, you could be a health hazard to some folks...may even have to be inspected by the FDA.

Relax, dsm. I use 10 drops the first night and then add 5 each additional night I use the pad. Still kickkin' here.

10 drops!!!!! I cannot imagine that. I would have had such a scent induced headache from that I would have been miserable. May I ask an question that doesn't deal with DSM death?
Are most people that speak of using multiple drops at one time male?
I was just wondering if it is male/female thing with scent. I need 1 drop at best and yes I am a female, while others talk of 10 drops! What's up with that?
