Resmed P10 Nasal pillows cracking/splitting on bottom rim

Post by james999 » Thu Feb 15, 2024 8:29 am

I would like to ask the forum if anybody has experienced the Resmed P10 Nasal Pillows (just the pillow snap in part) cracking and splitting along the bottom rim? I have had this happen three times already and am wondering what might be causing this. I clean my cpap once a week in not too hot water, using tergazyme by soaking all parts in a tub and using brushes on all parts. I gently clean these so I am careful about that.

But this cracking happens from time to time. I would say about three times in one year. I am stymied.

Years and years of P10 use....never had that happen.
Never heard of it until now either.

Had to Google that one. I understand the stuff is good for removing silicone oil, so I would question its suitability for this task. Seems like it might suck the very oil out of the pillows that keep them soft. https://technotes.alconox.com/industry/ ... cone-oils/

in eight years on P10, never had that problem. i think you may be over cleaning them. after all these years, i still use lanolin on the pillows every night before putting on the mask. in the morning, i use a generic baby wipe to clean the surface.

i only ever occasionally clean the pillows. usually when they get a bit "cloudy" looking. maybe once or twice a year. i then soak them in dawn dish washing liquid. then use my waterpik to rinse off.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

tergazyme
Why?

Just use Dawn dishwashing liquid. Rub the mask for a few seconds with your clean fingers. Rinse well. This procedure will remove any biofilm. That's all you need to do.

Any germs on your mask came from you. So, you already survived them.

OP on the linked thread promised to report back and never did. I assume the experiment left him unable to report.

Tergazyme?
Yeah, I am also baffled.
It's best to stick with products recommended by
the manufacturer or by members of this forum.
I would put tergazyme on the short list of things to blame.
