CleanFlash?

Post by kirkjerk » Mon Jan 15, 2024 9:42 pm

Any thoughts on CleanFlash? Surprised it hasn't been a topic here.

Like, I feel compliance might be a lot higher if it was a lot less messy to clean things - but the FDA doesn't seem to like it

(though it's not 100% clear to me what kind of product CleanFlash is per se...)

Is the warning like more "this is not a best practice" or "this is a stupid idea"?

this is a stupid idea
It's (mechanical ozone or UV cpap equipment cleaners) been cussed and discussed in some fashion for the 15 years I have been here.

News flash...they don't clean anything...if you use one of those cleaners you still have snot, facial oils, dirt or whatever on your equipment and at best that stuff has been nuke and is sterile (and that is only if you believe the snake oil salesman which I don't)....but the crap is still on your equipment. You haven't cleaned it and for all I know you probably didn't nuke it either.

Search the forum for "SoClean" because that's another one of the many ozone gas cpap cleaners. We've discussed it often.

Did you know that using one of those cleaners can void your machine warranty if you are still within warranty time frame.
It can also damage your mask as well as your machine.

It can destroy both your machine and your lungs....it's worse than just a stupid idea.

The FDA is trying to save your health and maybe your life.
It isn't for us normal cpap users.
Ozone does have its place but it isn't for lazy cpap users.

the FDA is not keen on ozone generating equipment for consumer use.

Half a brain should be enough to convince the rest of us.
(The FDA, of course!)

Cleaning is very simple. 1. Wipe the facial oils off the mask with an alcohol swab (https://www.walmart.com/ip/ReliOn-Steri ... /934213386) each morning.

2. Dump leftover humidifier water every two to three days. If the tank gets scale buildup from using tap water, clean it with a dilute lemon or vinegar solution.

3. My hose goes for years without cleaning, then I replace it. The inside of the hose doesn't get dirty.

4. Dust the outside of the machine when the rest of the house is dusted.

Simple.

Always dust where the cat walks.
This way guests will not see paw prints and judge you harshly.
