Please help

Post by DHHJS77 » Sat Oct 14, 2023 5:38 am

I've been a BiPAP user for nearly 20 years and have NEVER been so frustrated as I have the past couple of months. First, the local company I was getting my supplies from, closed without notice and transferred records to an out of state company without permission. I went to my doctor (not the same one I had when I did the original sleep study) and, after a FOUR WEEK runaround with his staff, finally, after connecting with a company manager, I got set up with a new, local supply company. (I think it is associated with a nationwide company, but I don't know if I can say what company. Also, I've been given three different names.)

I went to the new store on Wednesday and got a new Resmed AirCurve 10, which is the same machine I've had for years. I also got a different mask. I have been wearing the Quatro but got the
Airfit 20. I also use the heated hose.

Wednesday night, a bit of adjustment to the new mask, but didn't seem that bad until I woke up in the morning and saw my Events per Hour were 10! I was never over 2 before! OK, it's the mask, I figured. So Thursday, I used my Quatro mask with a new cushion (that I had to buy on my own.) Friday morning, events are at 9! So, next step, compare the set up from the old machine to the new. The Start EPAP on the new machine was 2.0 and on the old was 8.0, so I changed it. Events last night were, again, at 10.

Tonight, I'm going 100% back to the old machine, old mask, old hose - everything. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be going on? Is it possible my old machine is giving me wrong numbers?

Thank you!

There are so many variables that it would just be a guess without more data. You should post a Daily View chart from OSCAR (or SleepHQ for the less technically inclined). Instructions for starting are in my signature.

What I wrote is very clear. My questions were answered on another forum. If anyone doesn’t find help here, go to another site.

How is your reading comprehension? No one said that what you wrote is not clear.

If you gave them no more information than what is in this post, then they are just guessing what you should do. Good luck working with sparse information.

We really want to help.
Please fill out your equipment, and share some actual therapy numbers.
Not only do we need help to keep breathing while asleep, we are lousy mind readers.

If your questions were answered on another forum, you're probably all set for now, but my advice would be to check absolutely every setting on your old machine to make sure each one is right on your new machine. If you changed mask type, please make sure you have the right mask type in the settings as well.
