Fighting air leaks from under the mask Life hack

Post by Dzyan » Sun Aug 27, 2023 12:43 pm

I propose to create a topic in which users will share their experience of combating air leaks with CPAP masks. My favorite resmed air touch f20 mask with open exhalation. I overcame my leaks with an elastic bandage ring and replacing the standard straps with similar straps, only with a "not for sale" tag. Straps "not for sale" turned out to be more elastic and comfortable.

Struggling with leaks in F&P Simplus since doc increased pressures from 13 to 22. Waiting for Airtouch F20 to arrive. Hoping for the best. Wondered where you sourced “not for sale” straps.

My Tap Pap was blowing air (not leaks, the normal vents) that dried out my eyes. In the middle of the night my eyes would be stuck shut! So I made a ledge out of masking tape on the tube, just above the vents, that diverted the vent air so it would go down instead of up. It helps.

Leaks, there are some. I just let it leak because my SleepyHead report says it is still a low amount.

Please be careful as the bandage seems to go over the little airholes for exhalation to escape! Don't asphixiate yourself!

He uses an F20. No air vents in the mask part, they're in the elbow connecting the mask to the hose, outside the bandage.

Stabilizing a mask can sometimes pay off, but keeping modern masks (counter-intuitively) as loose as possible often pays off more for me in preventing mask leak issues.
The people who confuse "entomology" and "etymology" really bug me beyond words.
