V-COM Questions

Post by gebo » Wed May 03, 2023 9:25 am

It appears that the new V-COM device is the new rave. I had to have one. Got it and my bubble has busted. For some reason, I am disappointed. I am using APAP running from 7-11. Max pressure ends up around 8-9 every night. It became a chore for me to breath and I started thinking about breathing. Not good at midnight, at 2 am, etc.

Apparently, the V-COM is only for CPAP 10 and above???

I tried it again last night and set my constant pressure at 10 and turned off EPR. It was better but I must be missing something. What am I missing? It was only $35 but how is everyone but me so excited about it? Can anyone give
me some instruction? LankyLefty and that Australian guy seem to love it based on their YouTubes.

So far, you are most correct. So many positive reviews??? I figured I am the “outlier”…

There's a few topics here about the v-com. Of those that tried it, I haven't seen anybody like it and seen a few who hate it.

I don't think you're an outlier.

Tongue in cheek, you mean Leftylanky and that Australian guy on YouTube may only be doing a partial disclosure? Hmmm…

I guess I’ll eBay it for $20 and recover a little dinero.

I also couldn't use it successfully. Yes, I'm also missing $35

All Kidding and sarcasm aside, are there certain guidelines that should be followed to maximize the effectiveness of the VCOM?

What you *SHOULD* do is call your credit card company and dispute the charge.

I don't believe that anything you put int the air circuit that causes the machine to not be able to effectively measure air pressures *can* be 'effective'.

I believe VCOM is a scam, just like provent and theravent, they all do the same thing, pretending that the pressure at the end of an expiration is all that you need, but they all fail to *maintain* or increase that pressure when you start to breathe in, thus creating a relative partial vacuum, and enhancing the collapse of the airway.

An interesting thread from TOOF:

New VCom User wrote:First night using the V-COM device...am I dreaming? Since transitioning from FFM to nasal pillow mask, I was constantly having high leak rates. Double taping my mouth, hacked my F&P Brevida using the Evora headgear. This device pretty much reduced my leaks to almost zero and my AHI is at its lowest at 0.17!!!
Next day:

Rubicon is referring to Sleep HQ. There's a two-week free trial, but after that, it's $15/mo.

Irrespective of this product. Anytime someone is promoting a product that doesn't align with public sentiment, you should think to yourself, "Do X and Y have anything to gain by promoting this product?"

Therein lies your answer.
