Hypopena Question

Post by alww » Fri Apr 28, 2023 4:58 am

The past two nights my AHI has been slightly higher. The increase is with the hypopena. Nothing drastic but curious as to the cause of an increase in them. Most days my AHI score is way under 1 with very little obstructive if any and usually low central’s and hypopena’s. As I said, just wondering about an increase in the hypopena’s for a few nights and a higher AHI. Thanks for any input.

Thursday 4/27
Usage - 5.46
AHI - 1.2
Central - 2
Obstructive - 0
Hypopena - 5

Wednesday 4/26
Usage - 6.10
AHI - 1.3
Central - 1
Obstructive - 0
Hypopena - 7

Two days is not statistically significant.

This is like Ted Williams saying:
The past two games my batting average has been slightly lower. Nothing drastic but curious as to the cause of a decrease. Most days my batting average is well over 300

Having said that, post the charts. Very possible some of the hypopneas were false positives, awake breathing.

Also may want to consider any new meds, exercise, etc. etc.

I guess it can be considered a type of penalty.

Statistically, there is no significant difference between the data for Thursday:

Hypopena - 7
Two additional hypopnenas (and one less CA) are just not that important when your AHI is in the low 1.* range.

The most notable thing about the two pieces of data that you posted is the usage data---and I say that as someone who often doesn't get much more sleep than 5-6 hours. But the fact remains that most people do need more like 7-8 hours of sleep.
