My mask tube and heated tube gets lose after a while
My mask tube and heated tube gets lose after a while
I use a ResMed nose pillow with Respironics heated tube, and after a while, the two get so loose that they separate. I normally use duct tape or sticky medical tape to fix the problem, but that must be a better way. I am not used to any nose pillow from Respironics, and it seems to have had the same even when I used my ResMed machine. Is this a common issue, and if so what do others do about it?
Re: My mask tube and heated tube gets lose after a while
There is usually a short hose or a plastic insert to connect the heated hose to the mask. Do you have something like that? That piece comes as part of the mask...What specific mask do you have?

Re: My mask tube and heated tube gets lose after a while
How old is your heated hose (tube)?
Do you connect and disconnect the mask from the tube on a daily basis?
Do you follow the "how to remove" instructions carefully?
Have you tried another mask in this tube?
Have you tried this mask with a new heated hose (tube)?
Could it be that you start out with pushing the mask's plastic insert into the machine tube into the machine tube, thus wearing out the machine tube's connector?

And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.

Some masks have an extra fitting that allows the hose connection to swivel.
It is a little piece, and might have gotten lost or left in,
preventing the use of a different mask.
I actually had a DME try to sell me a mask with the fitting gone.
I fired them.

Re: My mask tube and heated tube gets lose after a while
I am using the resmed airfit 10 and the heated hose that comes with dreamstation II. I managed to put ductape on the mask hose and it now snuggles better onto the heated hose. I seldom remove the two (why would I? ) this is a recurring problem but I am not about to change masks as this is the best nose pillow for me. Still dream station is way too noisier than resmed.

Re: My mask tube and heated tube gets lose after a while
Try wrapping the part of the mask fitting that mates with the tube, with a few layers of PTFE Plumbers Tape (aka Thread Seal Tape).
It will increase the grip between the fitting and tube but willl still allow them to pull apart when necessary.

Re: My mask tube and heated tube gets lose after a while
Wrap a rubber band a few times around the end of the heated hose cuff and leave it on. This puts some tension on the connection but still allows the two to be pulled apart and put together.
