want to share positive experience!

Post by sharon1965 » Thu Mar 29, 2007 5:36 am

hi all!

i thought i'd share something positive that happened to me this morning:

i posted previously that fairly early on in my therapy (3 mos. now) i realized just before i fell asleep that i couldn't feel my mask on my face...that was pretty cool, i must say

this morning when i woke up, i thought, 'damn it, i took my mask off!' (as i do once in a while) and when i sat up i realized it was still on my face!!! i guess i'm getting more used to it than i thought; i couldn't even feel it!

that made me pretty happy: it's a small thing, but it's a big thing

That's great, Sharon. Isn't it a wonderful feeling when that happens? Just hang in there and sooner or later (at least that's what they tell me) everything will fall in place and become second nature.

So cool! I am glad to hear that...and it encourages me to stick with my mask too, as I am brand new to all of this (this is the end of my 2nd week). Is there anything specific you did to get there? I am just so frustrated with mine, grrr.

Any pointers would help.

WTG, Sharon! Very good news, indeed. Having a mask that's comfortable enough that you can actually sleep with it on is a major key to being able to do this kind of treatment well.

Mask successes are never a "small thing". They're always a BIG thing!

Sharon,
In other circles that might not seem like a big thing, but here, it's top of the list. Congratulations and thanks for the smile to start the day.

Congratulations! I remember when that happened to me too!

Every night when I first put the mask on, I struggle to breathe a bit. I have to really focus on remaining calm.

But, within a few minutes, the oddness is gone and every single time I wake up to turn over or go to the bathroom, whatever...I put my hand out to see if there is exhaust coming out because I have ZERO sensation of the air pressure on both inhale and exhale.

Isn't it an amazing feeling to get used to something so difficult to adjust to in the beginning?

Congratulations, Sharon.

Maybe the slogan from the old General Electric commercials might be appropriate at these times:

"Progress is our most important product."
