What kind of pillow are you using?

I wonder if different pillow shapes or firmness affect how comfortable your mask is?

I'm using a contoured cervical pillow recommended by my ortho, and it's pretty firm.

Years ago, I found out I had to stop using a cervical pillow if I wanted to keep my masks from leaking.

Maybe you should discuss pillow types with your ortho; the best for me, with my present types of masks is responsive, resilient, a kind of memory foam. I'm a side sleeper. It has a feeling of softness to it, but it also retains height giving my head good support. I used to have all kinds of neck/shoulder pains with the wrong kinds of pillows. Or maybe I shoud say "the wrong kind of pillow for my type of CPAP mask".

Even now, 17+ years into CPAP, I'm surprised at how much the "rightness" of the pillow depends at the type of mask I'm using. Pillows are such a habit, that we don't often think of them as something to be changed.
