meds related to your sleep disorder

Post by Zees Pleez » Mon Mar 14, 2005 10:48 am

It seems some of us have to take things to sleep, some to stay awake, some need both and some lucky dogs need nothing. I am curious as to what is most common, so here is the poll...

I can fall asleep with very little effort; 4 minutes at the sleep lab with all the wires and whatnot in the strange room with my head full of new info. It did double all the way to 8 minutes for tittration. Anyway, my problem is staying alert. Some days I just can't function well without something to keep the blood flowing to my brain...

In participating in this forum and reading about all of those who take these meds and the troubles they have, I am VERY thankful that I have never needed such a thing.

Good Luck to all of you who do.
Sincerely,

Well, for me, taking sleeping meds has been a way of treating the symptoms instead of the real problem. Now that I have my APAP, I'm ramping myself down off of the sleep meds and am hoping that within a couple of weeks I'll not need them anymore...I seriously dislike taking them anyway. I envy those of you who have never needed them, you're lucky!

I want to get off mine also. I don't take it (Provigil) every day, nor do I always take a full dose when I take it. But some days I am just so beat. And the thought of nodding off while driving scares me. And not driving would have some serious financial repurcussions. It's hard to know that you will be alert enough.
