hearing about the run around people are getting on this board. It doesn’t surprise me one bit.

I just hope it's the people in management who made the bad decisions who are the ones to be let go. Otherwise the company will only be transitioning from "train wreck" to "economically-streamlined-and-more-efficient train wreck." Sadly, it is more likely the innocent little guys there who will take the hit for the knuckleheads.

I believe ResMed should have some viable competition in the marketplace to enforce what passes these days for honest, competitive-based value to consumer. I also believe Philips may have blown their chance at being trusted enough to be able to provide that in the long term.

agree with you about the concept that competition is good for the consumer.

I read that the guy at the top was already let go. But I hope you’re right.

Replacements from Online Vendors

Post by JimmyMc » Wed Oct 26, 2022 10:29 am

I've got very severe sleep apnea, and have been using a Philips Dreamstation for over five years. The device was purchased by me directly from CPAP.com, and online vendor.

When the recall was announced I was one of the first to register my machine for replacement. As a diabetic with heart issues I would have thought to be high on the list of patients to receive a replacement machine early on.

I'm hearing from them that very few of the machines they sold to end-users have been replaced by Philips, although they are aware of many sleep practitioners who have already seen 100% of their patients with new machines.

Online vendors look to be "punished" by Philips for their sale to end users in the US. Under fair trading laws Philips and other CPAP vendors are unable to block the sale of machines by online vendors, at a discount. Many of the manufacturers were not happy about the online vendors early on, as I recall.

If I'm receiving an additional "punishment" by Philips due to their pettiness with WHERE the machine came from, this isn't going to be a good look for them going forward.
