Switching DME's

Post by carol oliver » Wed Sep 07, 2022 10:10 am

I've had it with my DME. They never return a call and I have had to order mask supplies from Amazon. I have medicare and really can't afford to pay for new mask parts.
Does anyone know if Medicare will allow me to switch DME without a new prescription ? I really don't want to have to have a new study done.

You should have a copy of your prescription and your sleep study. With those documents you can go to any Medicare provider.

Absolutely, as long as they take Medicare is doesn't matter.

If mail order will work for you, I use https://verushealthcare.com/contact/
But there are others also. Norm they will contact your doc and sleep lab to get what they need for Medicare but if you don't already have it I would request the copies to have on hand.

I never provide my DME with anything except my doctor's name. They fax a form to her and she provides whatever they need. It doesn't seem to be a big deal. I think most decent (?) DMEs do this.
