Expiration woes
Expiration woes
I have been using Cpap for 5years and recently have been having a very annoying squeaky sound coming from the back of my throat on exhale waking me up as I am almost asleep. I noticed it a month ago and it seemed to go away but now it is back. Anyone have any insight into this phenomenon? I have read that the soft palette can collapse on exhalation causing this but it is rare. I am on a max pressure of 8. My Ahi is generally under 6 but when this happens, it is close to 10 or 12. I am due for a new machine but since this is only on exhale, I doubt the machine is to blame.
Re: Expiration woes
Are you sure its not coming from the mask exhaust or from the cpap?

Re: Expiration woes
What machine - exact name + model - do you have? Are you aware that the min. pressure setting does the work, not the max (which most leave at 20 and the min. anywhere from 5 to 10++ depending on various things) ?
The noise could be caused by various things as well, so if it's the machine, knowing more about it would help here, and if it's 'you' that's a whole other business. Having your AHI under 6 is not considered here to be terrific, most aim for under 2 - the arbitrary 5 that doctors talk about is really just because they needed to have something to point to, but is not ideal... still leaves you being aroused a fair amount all night.
