How to Lower ASV Pressure? Aerophagia

Hi All,

Diagnosed with CSA and been on ASV for about 6 weeks (nasal mask). My numbers have been great: < 1.5 AHIs and minimal mask leakage. However, I started CONSTANTLY burping...from morning until night.

I've been told to adjust my pressure downwards, but am not sure the best way to do so. Below are my current ASV settings:

Min EPAP: 4
Max EPAP: 8
Min PS: 0
Max PS: 10

Also attached some stats...Can someone help me out with this?

If you go screwing with your pressures by lowering them without knowing what you are doing you very well could end up not having your central apneas dealt with effectively.
Unfortunately the very thing that deals with centrals is also the very thing that will feed aerophagia monster and that is your PS.
Your EPAP numbers...aren't really all that low and 4 minimum is as low as it can go anyway....can't go lower.

You would have to lower PS and PS is what is breathing for you when you have a central apnea.
You might could lower max PS to 8 and have it still adequately deal with the centrals but I wouldn't go any lower than 8 max PS.

Can you post a detailed nightly report and not the overview graphs? Those graphs don't show the details that tell us in depth where your pressure was going and how often PS kicked in and how high it even went.

Sure thing. Unfortunately I forgot to return the SD card to my CPAP, so the most recent overall data I have is from 12/15...
