Re: my air app question
Because your mask was leaking above the threshold for a good seal, but you still had an acceptable AHI.
MyAir is a terrible diagnostic tool.

Re: my air app question
When leaks are really bad it is possible that the machine can totally miss flagging any events that might have happened and thus the low AHI is actually a meaningless number.
It is possible that the machine might have simply missed a large number of apnea events happening because the leaks created a situation where the machine was clueless as to detecting events and thus reporting events.

Re: my air app question
MyAir is a feel-good app, not an analytical tool. OSCAR is much better.

AMEN!
Indeed, the raw data available on your screen is infinitely better than that silly app.

The MyAir app provides on a daily basis this data:
Due to its ease of use and simple understandability, it has helped perhaps hundreds of thousands of users achieve compliance and benchmark levels of efficacy. Has Sleepyhead/OSCAR even helped tens of thousands? Unlikely.
OSCAR devotees, of which I am one, are operating in rarefied air.
Usage Hours
Average Mask Leak in Liters/Minute
AHI
Mask On/Off Incidents

Re: my air app question
That silly "Events per hour" number is not important is it?. I can still get a 95+ no matter how bad it is! So it must not mean anything right

The MyAir app also provides a Sleep Therapy Report, with graphical representation that covers three periods of time (the last 30 days, 90 days, and 365 days) of the same data. Additionally, the report shows Days used > 4 hours and Days used > 6 hours with percentages.ChicagoGranny wrote: ↑Sun Nov 14, 2021 1:57 pmThe MyAir app provides on a daily basis this data:

The last part is helpful to those who need to show proof of usage.
The Report is available in the upper right corner of the app - titled "Report"
Note: I'm just posting this as I've shown this nugget to a few people who were surprised that a Report was embedded within the app.

Re: my air app question
Just curious, to what party would a user show that report? A decent DME has the user's MyAir data and submits it when necessary to the user's insurance company. I don't know about DOT requirements.
Re: my air app question
I used one to show the VA doctors (when doing my getting-out of the military physical) that I was using my CPAP (and thus, it's now part of my overall VA disability - Hey, I don't make the rules!). At the time, the military health system did not/does not talk well with the VA health system (or I should say, VBA system) and most was done via paper.ChicagoGranny wrote: ↑Sun Nov 14, 2021 7:06 pmJust curious, to what party would a user show that report? I know of someone (an OTR driver) who has to report to his company that he uses his CPAP and he's handed in this report - How that meets DOT regs, I'm not sure - but it some how keeps his HR from harassing him.

This is exactly what MyAir is designed for. When it shows trouble, you fire up Oscar and figure out what's going on.

Re: my air app question
Why would a user need to use OSCAR in this case? MyAir has alerted him to a high mask leak. He needs to work on fitting and adjusting the mask. OSCAR is not needed at this point.loggerhead12 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 14, 2021 10:11 pmThis is exactly what MyAir is designed for. When it shows trouble, you fire up Oscar and figure out what's going on.
Stop the mask leaks. Fiddling with OSCAR is counterproductive.
I'll check back later to see the creative hypotheticals posted about outlier cases supposedly proving MyAir is worthless.

I don't think MyAir is worthless. It's super-convenient and right on my phone. They're complementary, not competing products.ChicagoGranny wrote: ↑Mon Nov 15, 2021 6:20 amI'll check back later to see the creative hypotheticals posted about outlier cases supposedly proving MyAir is worthless.![]()

Re: my air app question
For you and me, they are complementary. For the great majority of CPAP users, OSCAR is beyond their pay grade. That is why I hate to see it trashed here.loggerhead12 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 15, 2021 12:52 pmI don't think MyAir is worthless. It's super-convenient and right on my phone.
