Another observation: The Airsense 10's heated humidifier seems to go through water a lot faster than my old Dreamstation did. I haven't gotten around to comparing the two in terms of how much water they hold, but I've also noticed that I am experiencing annoying dryness at the back of my throat less often with the new machine (except when I forget to fill it!). It seems to be giving me plenty of humidified air even on warm, humid nights.

AHI better with new Airsense 10?
In the almost 2 weeks since I've been using my new ResMed Airsense 10 Autoset, I've been getting much better AHI readings than I got with my old (recalled) Dreamstation. The settings are about the same, but while the Dreamstation was generally reporting AHI results of under 5, with the Airsense I've been getting AHIs of under 1 in all but 2 days, and those 2 were only a fraction above 1. Is this due to the different algorithms of the 2 machines (in which case, how do we ever know what to trust?), or could the new Airsense just be working better?

Actually the AirSense water chambers will hold 380 mL of water and the Respironics 325 mL.
I suspect the difference in water consumption is related more to the humidification system itself and maybe the settings used.
The difference in AHI reported is probably due to the different algorithms that each brand used. They go about doing their jobs a little differently. You probably could have ended up with similar numbers on the Respironics if you had tweaked your pressure settings a bit. Most likely more baseline pressure would have been needed.
I know when I went to ResMed from Respironics I ended up needing about 3 cm less baseline with the ResMed to get approx same numbers as with the Respironics.

Thanks, Pugsy. That's kind of what I suspected. I'm happy to keep the numbers my new ResMed is giving me. And I might experiment with the humidification settings, though they seem to be comfortable where they are (except when it runs out of water!)Pugsy wrote: ↑Wed Aug 18, 2021 8:10 amActually the AirSense water chambers will hold 380 mL of water and the Respironics 325 mL.

Well....the running out of water thing...that's what we call user error.
I have to fill the water chamber every night and if I don't I will empty it. In fact I almost empty it sometimes even if I fill it up.
Sometimes I have forgotten to fill it though....user error.
