Dreamstation DSX700H11 Bi-Pap

Post by kitra » Sat Jul 24, 2021 5:14 pm

Anyone know where to get a new/used main board for this machine. One of the surface mount IC's burned and the board is ruined. I hate to toss it but I did get a new machine last night.

I hope your new machine is not on the recall list.

I thought ALL Dreamstations were recalled. Didn't the post say any machine produced prior to April 2021 was recalled?

My new machine is also on the recall list. It's a top of line model BIPAP Dreamstation. I think it has more features than I'll ever need. Maybe for someone with COPD? It seems like you can almost have the machine time your breaths and breathe for you?? I don't have anyone to ask and my Doctor would not be happy I bought a machine outside of his office. My new one is a DreamStation AVAPS30 H/C, DS, DSX1130H11C. It has a Modem, a Cellular card and Humidifier. I also got a F&P Mask with it in a box. I don't think I'll use the Mask. The Couple I bought it from got it new 2 years ago. It took a while for the Insurance to process and get the unit sent. He decided to have surgery for his Sleep Apnea and never even opened the box. So I got a new machine with zero hours, and with the original receipt for over $3800. He asked only $400 for it since it was on the recall list. He was hesitant to sell it at all due to the recall. The last machine I bought in a similar way. Not having any insurance coverage for a Bi-Pap that I desparately need, I search the Web and find NIB Machines. I talked to Philips and the Gal I spoke with said Ozone based cleaners really started this serious issue. Ozone is an oxidizer and they did some testing at Philips. They found it acellerates the aging of the foam and it eventually starts to crumble. The have very few reports of machines kept in a nice environment having any issues. I don't know what they are going to do for owners of their machines? She told me over 400 million machines are affected. I cannot imagine they will be replacing machines for free? As far as the foam gassing, I'm not worried. If it is gassing at all, it's probably a few parts per billion. The same foam is used in lots of things so I expect my furniture, carpet pad, bed, etc is also gassing some. I may be wrong.

Your new machine is intended for use by people with respiratory diseases or central apnea. It can "force" breaths to make sure your tidal volume stays steady over time. (Tidal volume is the amount of air that goes in and out of your lungs during one breath.) More information here:

https://www.respshop.com/cpap-machines/ ... -1157.html

What were the settings on your old machine? And what are your settings on the new one? Do you find the new one comfortable to use?
Oscar software is available at https://www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR/

Thanks for the information. Currently, I have the new machine in "ST" mode. IPap = 11.0 and EPap = 7.5. I have AVAPS = OFF and BPM = OFF. So with those last two settings "OFF", there are no further adjustments available. I wish I knew if the settings I have OFF would be benefical?

My older DSX700 BiPap machine seemed to learn my breathing rate and time the Ipap/Epap. So when I first put in on, it would fight me until it learn my respiration rate. I could feel the machine pulsing the air at the wrong times for the first minute. The new machine quietly and discreetly follows my breathing but it isn't apparent like the old one. The new machine immedately follows my breathing rate. The new machine has no AUTO Mode that I am aware of. And new new machine doesn't seem to have an Auto-on / Auto-off. Both of these last features I really liked "Auto Mode", Auto On, Auto Off.

I was diagnosed as a Mild to Moderate Sleep Apnea case. No one knows why but my SPO2 runs a little low. My SPO2 is around 92 to 97. Never smoked but am also 20 pounds too heavy. Going on 65 years old. The good thing is my morning report of AHI's have been good. They have ranged from .7 to 2.3. Last night it was 1.0.

If there is another mode to enable I'm listening.

That “nice environment” is key. My old (pre-DreamStation) Philips Respironics System One (PRS1) CPAP lived in the trunk of my car for long periods of time. It’s foam is crumbling like old foam headphones. My newer PRS1 CPAP was always in the house, and the foam in that one is intact. As long as your never-used one was stored in the living space of their house (not attic or metal shed) I’m guessing it isn’t deteriorating.

You’re right about the other stuff gassing off but that is not being directly forced in to the lungs like with a c or bipap machine.

Cpap or bipap machines in general don't "force" anything anywhere. They won't even blow up a balloon at max pressure.
Exception being the machines that are actually NIV machines of which the OP happens to have. He has a very special model machine and it is classified as a NIV machine....non invasive ventilator.
