Did your blood pressure go up?
Did your blood pressure go up?
I have been working on getting my blood pressure under control. And the past couple of months I have been doing very well. Then I started CPAP and my daily blood pressure reading has gone up 10 - 15 points still in normal range but noticeably higher. Is this something common for people in the early days using CPAP?

Re: Did your blood pressure go up?
Which times of day are you measuring your BP? Are these the same times before you started using CPAP?... continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy rapidly improves blood pressure and arterial tone in adults with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
Results show that there was a significant reduction in systolic and diastolic blood pressures among sleep apnea patients who were compliant with CPAP therapy for three months. Successful treatment of sleep apnea also was associated with decreased vascular tone and arterial stiffness. Following one week of treatment withdrawal, these improvements disappeared and reverted to baseline values.

Is your CPAP therapy optimized? What are your AHI and leak level? Did you feel like you are sleeping better since starting CPAP?
Re: Did your blood pressure go up?
What are your pressure settings?

Re: Did your blood pressure go up?
I always have taken my BP between 6-7pm. My leak level is 29.7L/min. Average AHI is 4.87 per hour. I do not feel like I am sleeping better. It takes 2 or 3 hours to fall asleep. Pre CPAP, I would be out almost as soon as it hit the pillow.ChicagoGranny wrote: ↑Tue Jun 29, 2021 6:19 pm

I have an Airsense 10 Auto. I believe my pressure setting are 4 to 20.
I was hoping this was kind of a normal thing and my BP would go back to normal after a couple of weeks. I’ve been using it for a week and a half.

Re: Did your blood pressure go up?
The stress of starting cpap can temporarily cause some rise in BP.
It should get better with time and a more comfortable setting.
4 cm is a bit low to maintain comfortable airflow.
I would be climbing the walls.
A week and a half may not be enough for you either.
It took me about 3X that.

Thank you I appreciate your reply. I certainly don’t feel like I’ve gotten into flow of things, but I’m determined to make it work.chunkyfrog wrote: ↑Tue Jun 29, 2021 10:02 pmThe stress of starting cpap can temporarily cause some rise in BP.

You have a very good machine. Note it in your signature in the user profile. Then, no one will need to ask again.

Raise your min. setting to 6 for a couple of days and see how that feels.

Your first CPAP pun! You'll be fine.
Re: Did your blood pressure go up?
Mine actually has gone down but I didn't track it at the beginning. And my oxygen level has gone up!
I bet yours will settle after a while.

I don’t seem to have the option to adjust the pressure unless I’m looking in the wrong place.
