Air fit p10 nasal pillow mask

Post by deerslayer » Sat Jun 26, 2021 9:26 am

Have been using this mask for many years now. Would like to know if anyone else that has used this mask & has switched to a better one , would like input.
I still like it but have not kept up with anything new.
Thanks
Tim

I switched from the P10 to the Bleep (link in my signature line) mainly to get rid of the headgear and side strap thingy which was causing dents on my cheeks and fluid accumulation under my eyes.....dreaded bags under my eyes that women hate.

Now there are some newer nasal pillow masks that route the hose overhead that some people like a lot.
DreamWear Nasal Pillow mask made by Phillips Respironics
and similar mask made by ResMed...the AirFit P30i. You might look at those and see what you think.
I found the P30i extremely noisy myself...the Darth Vadar noise but others say they don't notice it.

Good to see you are still alive and kicking...we have lost a few since you were probably here last....49er and SirNoddinOff to name a couple. I don't know if you remember them or not.

what is your definition of better?

not being snide, being serious.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Zonker just searching for any improvements in the nasal pillow world . Human nature ya know. Individual pillows don’t seem to last as long as they did. I use each one for two nights & then switch to a different one , then clean all when I deplete all & repeat. The dme laughed when I said I had blowouts with the inner liner rendering them useless.

seems like nothing lasts like it did.

i get pretty good life out of mine. i clean them in dish soap when i think of it. say, maybe that should be now? but every morning i wipe the pillows inside and out with a baby wipe. i also, after all these years, use lansinoh. i feel the lanolin helps prolong the life of the mask.

but anyway, i'm diverting the thread. let's see who else pops in.

I'll throw in a vote for the F&P Brevida. For me (YMMV) it is very comfortable and extremely unlikely to leak when properly fitted. The part of the cushion that goes a teeny bit into your nostrils, which I thought would irritate me, is surprisingly imperceptible. I can't get this mask to leak, which is great. :) :)

I have been using the p10 for nearly three years and just changed to the p30i, which my sleep clinic now gives out as a free replacement (East Grinstead NHS, UK). Tried it for a few days now.

Pros - the strap doesn't seem to require the same amount of tension or seem to slip around so much behind my head and I have found it more comfortable than the p10
hose above head - as a side sleeper, who flips from side to side occasionally, this is brilliant
it is velcro adjustment rather than elastic which is MUCH better, on p10 elastic wears out every 7 months or so and I hate using those clip shorterner things. I think I get less 'blow outs' when pillows are loose - I don't seem to wake up as much sorting that out compared to p10, but it's early days.

Excess air blows out of a valve on top of your head rather than out of the pillows area - neither particularly bothers me, but it's different.

cons - it is certainly noisier when you go to sleep (air is passing by your ear rather than straight to mouth), but I drop off fast, and it is great after that, and my partner says it is really quiet).
- it is slightly more cumbersome to get on and off as there is a bit more to it (but you get more support for the pillows)

All in all I am very impressed, the hose above the head is a big improvement for me and I won't be going back, although p10 has done a good job over the years.

I switched from the p10 to the Bleep mask (or dreamport) because of chaffing in my nostrils and leaks anytime I moved left or right, along with marks on my cheeks and the permanent hair folds it caused (barber could never cut the waves out). I would never go back for those reasons and it's also easier to breathe on. Like a lot of other people on here that talk about using bleep, my AHI and pressure came down considerably.

I am one who was able to lower my pressure on the Bleep! I thought for the longest time that it really made no difference, then one day for the heck of it, I decided to TRY lowering my minimum pressure. And was able to lower it by almost 2 pts without impacting my AHI, which was fairly low to begin with. I may try to go even lower. Just sorry it took 2 years to try.
