new download of oscar what now?
Hi guys i finally bought a laptop and was able to download the software and my data is available . what do i need to post in order for you guys to see and tell me if my machine is dialed in?
been using cpap since 2008 on and off i have an aircurve 10 vauto. I see a lot of data but don't understand it. i have played around with my settings to make the treatment more comfortable but i feel my machine does not detect my breathing in middle of night and i wake up gasping for air. i have notice while i inhale sometimes the machine does not kick in.

bottom line is they will need to see your "daily report".
please follow julie's advice and read the posts she's indicated. a lot of it will say "sleepyhead". just substitute "oscar" and you'll be right.
please don't expect to get the posting right the first time, particularly if you are anything like me.

just come back here, to this thread and start trying to upload your chart. we're here to help you if things don't go perfectly.
good luck!

Actually the first sticky in the announcement section "newbies please read before posting" actually covers the graph formatting question for detailed reports (among other things) if people will just read and follow the links to the educational material.

good work on the gathering and posting!
as this is vpap, i'm useless on making any helpful comments as to your settings. others will be along to comment.
i would suggest, though, that you tell us how you're sleeping. sleeping throughout the night? waking up refreshed?
or are you still having issues?
there's more to this journey than just the numbers.
good luck!

Re: new download of oscar what now?
Any special reason you have limited the IPAP max to 12.0? You are reaching it quite often.

I did one last adjustment to my mask it was too tight and leaking was often. As of today i am still having awakenings during the night. But i come from having insomnia and anxiety at night even though this has gotten better, Dr. Can't say why i keep waking up♂️

Re: new download of oscar what now?
Your numbers look generally good. Given that you have bloat etc with higher pressures, you should probably stick with the settings you have.
I see interruptions to treatment during the night, along with lots of leaks, including large leaks. I also see variability in the times at which you go to bed and get up, and the length of time you spend in bed. Finally, on the one night, I see clusters of events and flow limitations, which may indicate some postural issues.
You might want to work on mask fit, or even try a different mask if this one isn't working. You might also want to think whether you have different results when you sleep on your back vs your sides, or with two pillows vs. one. And do you sometimes tuck your chin down toward toward your chest? Best to avoid that, because it can add a restriction to your airway.
And given your general sleep issues, you might want to review the guidelines for better sleep:
• Keep a consistent sleep schedule. Get up at the same time every day, even on weekends or during vacations.
• Set a bedtime that is early enough for you to get at least 7 hours of sleep.
• Don’t go to bed unless you are sleepy.
• If you don’t fall asleep after 20 minutes, get out of bed.
• Establish a relaxing bedtime routine.
• Use your bed only for sleep and sex.
• Make your bedroom quiet and relaxing. Keep the room at a comfortable, cool temperature.
• Limit exposure to bright light in the evenings.
• Turn off electronic devices at least 30 minutes before bedtime.
• Don’t eat a large meal before bedtime. If you are hungry at night, eat a light, healthy snack.
• Exercise regularly and maintain a healthy diet.
• Avoid consuming caffeine in the late afternoon or evening.
• Avoid consuming alcohol before bedtime.
• Reduce your fluid intake before bedtime.

Re: new download of oscar what now?
Thank you for your response and your time, i did attend CBT therapy for my insomnia issues and that kind of helped. I try to go to bed at the same time but been summer and summer camps that kind of threw me off on my going to bed and waking times. Can you recommend another type of mask? i have tried full face mask and don't like the way i feel. Is there any other one like the amara view? Btw can you look at this chart last night was a rough one and could only sleep 4hrs in a row?Miss Emerita wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 1:54 pmYour numbers look generally good. I am a shallow breather and last night my machine felt as it was not blowing enough air but previous night were fine. Could my machine be defective? is there a way of verifying the machine is working good?
thanks again

Re: new download of oscar what now?
finding the right mask is like the holy grail of cpap therapy. we are all such unique individuals and thus have different needs.
having said that, look to cpap.com and search their masks. many (ALL?) have a 30 day return policy. look at a few that you like and read reviews there. or read reviews anywhere.
unfortunately, cpap.com doesn't accept insurance so it would be an out of pocket thing.
good luck!
