too much of a good thing?

Post by Greenpepper » Mon Jun 14, 2021 7:02 am

Most months, I have one "zero event" night, and sometimes maybe 2 since March. I switched to a nasal pillow mask in mid-March and my numbers have really gone way down : pressure, leak, AHI, the whole 9 yards. In May, my overall numbers were slightly up, but the last 3 weeks of May are the peak here for tree pollen so I wasnt surprised. Its June now, and we are only 13 nights in, and I have had 7 zero event nights already. So thats good .... but weird. Somehow in the back of my mind it seems a bit to good to be true? The machine seems to be reading stuff - the pressure is different each night, and there have been 6 nights this month with AHI readings, etc. Anyone had this before? Maybe its just a really great run, but I hope the machine (Airsense 10 for her) hasnt gone crackers !

Sounds a lot like my therapy.

Every morning when I look at my display, I expect to see a 0 or 0.1 AHI on the display. I often string 3,4, or 5 nights in a row with 0 or 0.1.

Are you sleeping more soundly in general now?
Fewer wake ups that you remember???

Things seem pretty normal I guess - ? I stopped taking advil/and or tylenol a couple weeks ago, that would be the only different thing I can think of. It was for back and neck pain which is always there to some degree but I wanted to go without the pain meds for a while.

We had a known bug in the ResMed S9 model machines where it would get stuck reporting the same data night after night and it was AHI 0.0. Usually fixed by just unplugging the machine from the wall outlet and then plugging it back in and forcing a reboot of the machines internal software. I had a S9 model machine and saw this happen once ...and I never have AHI of 0.0 so to have it happen for 7 nights in a row....totally out of character. I always have a few awake false positives flagged because I toss and turn a lot due to pain.

Now that was the S9 models...and it wasn't common but it did happen to enough people that we knew about it.

The AirSense/AirCurve models....I haven't seen it being reported where someone has night after night of 0.0 where we might think there was a software bug. If you see any variance in the AHI....that bug isn't there....even a tiny 0.1 variance.
But you could do the reboot thing if you wish...just in case because it hurts nothing to do it.

I suspect you are just sleeping better and maybe less chance of a false positive mucking up the AHI. You have adjusted to the machine and less chance of irregular awake breathing confusing the machine.

I doubt it is related to the machine going bonkers.

Since June 1 it has been: .3 --- 0 --- 0 --- 0 --- .1 --- 0 --- .3 --- .6 --- 1.0 --- 0 --- .1 --- 0 --- 0

So the 0's have been mixed in but it just seemed weird to have what would normally have been about 5 months worth of them in 2 weeks. Well I will just see how it goes for the remainder of the month !
