CAs concentrated at the end of my sleep

Post by kurata » Sat May 08, 2021 7:33 am

Hello

I've been using Resmed S10 for 3 months.

My sleep study had revealed 47 events/h (37 obstructive, 5 central, 5 mixed approx).

By using Resmed my obstructive apneas dropped to less than 1/h, but centrals vary from 2-9/h.

I know that sleep onset central apneas are common, but using Oscar I noticed a pattern where the more time I sleep, the more centrals per hour I have. CAs are normally rare during my first 2 or 3h of sleep, then they start to happen more and more frequently until the end of the night, where I may have 17/h (please see attached screenshot as an example).

Is this common too? Is there anything I can do here?

Thank you in advance.

The CAs may occur there if you are slow getting up. If you roll around while you are half awake for a half hour before actually getting up, you could generate CAs Just hold your breath for 10 seconds.

What to do or can be done for the centrals depends on why they are happening.

Do you take any medications of any kind? If so, what?

Is your sleep highly fragmented when you are seeing those centrals? Meaning are you waking often for some reason?

About the only thing you can try and see if it reduces the centrals or not is turning EPR off and even then that only helps if exhale relief is the trigger (and we don't know that it is) which can happen in a very small percentage of people.
