First Night on CPAP,,,FINALLY! Miracles do occur!

Post by dirtymartinigirl » Tue Mar 13, 2007 6:04 pm

Well after four weeks of exhausted frustration handling the squabbling between my insurance and DME, I've finally got my new machine. Yes, it is indeed a miracle. Apparently all the stars were aligned in insurance land today!

I brought home a shiny new S8 Auto Vantage and Mirage Swift Nasal Pillows today. It seems ridiculously comfortable right now, but only time will tell I guess. Thank you for those of you who have supported me thus far, your advice in the machine acquisition portion of this adventure has been invaluable, and I truly appreciate all of the assistance.

Now, my only request is to please send all of your positive CPAP'n vibes my way this evening! (I'm sure I'll have a story to tell you tomorrow that you've probably already heard a million times by all the CPAP rookies in the past.) Thanks again and I'll keep you posted!

I received the same gear you have. I've been a hosehead since January. I noticed the difference in my sleep quality right away, but after 2 months, I'm still not remarkably better. But everyone's results are different.

Good luck to you

Hope you have a great first night!! But no matter what, don't get discouraged--it's a process. You can do it.

Good luck, and don't forget to protect the nares. Don't wait for a sore to form before you use lube.

I survived!

Post by dirtymartinigirl » Wed Mar 14, 2007 7:37 am

Thank you to all of my cheerleaders out there!

I made it through the night with few complications. I slept from midnight until 6 am with my CPAP on, and it really went pretty well. I did have a harder time initially falling asleep than usual, but the mask was pretty comfortable and didn't appear to leak at all. Now if only I can start getting to bed earlier, I think I may be able to get some good quality sleep for a change!

Great to hear your first night went reasonably well!!!! 6 straight hours seems pretty darn good to me. It's definitely possible you are more rested than normal also, which I guess is the point!

Heather, 6 hours was VERY good for your first night with a new machine and mask!

Loved your comment: "Apparently all the stars were aligned in insurance land today!" I think YOU were the real star. You prepared yourself well.
