Symptoms

Post by josearturodominguez » Thu Mar 25, 2021 7:41 am

Hello recently diagnosed with moderate OSA, my biggest symptoms were waking up gasping air , high blood pressure and afib episodes, my afib is way better now havent felt it since with 2 weeks of use I have a dreamstation with nassal pillows with a set pressure at 10cm., I tape my mouth to avoid any leaks with medical tape.
But also I noticed that when I do more activity I am waking up with my mask on, feeling that I snore and a little bit of gasping air, is it possible that the more physical work I do in the day the more pressure I might require for better therapy?
My energy and mood is better I tolerate stress better but these 2 nights that I felt my snore with the mask and gasped for air I also had nightmares.

You might have had some apnea events slip past the defenses because you needed more pressure for some reason or other.

No way to know for sure without seeing some detailed reports and that's a maybe at best.

Which model DreamStation? Not all gather useful data...which is why the model used is so important.
What does it say as to model name on the machine?

OSCAR https://www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR/

It's a full data machine.

It wouldn't be impossible for your fixed pressure to be allowing an occasional event to happen can cause your unwanted symptoms.
We don't sleep the same each night....position for one thing and sleep stages for another.
Maybe you got in a position that just needed a little more than 10 cm pressure.

No way to know much of anything without looking at the data.

The DreamMapper app report is lacking significant details....like when those apnea events happened.
Were they spread out over the night or maybe in a cluster which would potentially be more problematic and maybe cause symptoms.
Also it doesn't even mention flow limitations which aren't part of the AHI but a critical part in evaluating airway patency.

Use the software for more/better detailed information.
