PSA: Risk of mental side effects from Singulair (Montelukast)

Post by cyberdreamer » Fri Feb 05, 2021 6:58 pm

Since Singulair (Montelukast) is a common medication for relieving nasal congestion which I think a lot of us here deal with, I thought it'd be helpful to share this information.

I personally experienced mood changes and some depression when taking Montelukast and at the time there was no warning about these in 2019. Thankfully I suspected the medication and stopped it, however according to the FDA up to 82 people might have committed suicide because of Montelukast.

I'm not advocating anyone to quit their medications without consulting their doctors; just to watch out for these side effects and be aware of the meds you take. Stay well!
