Question on "for Her" face mask

Post by catfan » Thu Jan 28, 2021 10:40 am

hi -
So I saw my sleep doc this week for the yearly checkup, she is very pleased that my sleep apnea is under control. I took the SD card from my Airsense 10 and she said the past 30 days' average AHI was 2.7.

I told her I have been fussing with my AirTouch F20 mask lately though, more leaks, tightening/loosening straps. She deferred to my DME for any equipment issues. I have sent them an email. She also had no opinion on CPAP bed pillows...again, referred to DME. I also have the F30 and LOVE the top-adjustable headgear and lower cushion profile...but I really prefer the memory foam of the F20. (Any inside info if ResMed will make the F30 with the foam???????????????? )

I would like to try the AirTouch F20 FOR HER ...but I am confused whether it is just about a different color on the headgear, or if there is an actual size differential, both in the mask and headgear?? Amazingly I cannot seem to
find this basic info. One place said it was just about aesthetics. ResMed website just says the mask "provides a more tailored experience for women." What does that mean though??

With the regular F20,I feel like I need the Medium in the cushion but could use a Small in the headgear. My chin straps almost turn back to my ear when I set them up, that's how much length there is. And the upper straps I sometimes have to pull up
vertically to get a tighter fit. So all this leads me to think I should try the "for HER" model.

And my Airsense is fine...but I'm just curious, in a MACHINE (as opposed to a product you wear, like the mask) what difference does it make whether the user is a him or her??? :?:

I am due for a new shipment but told DME a few weeks back that I wanted to wait for doc visit to see if we made any changes. I definitely want new headgear and so want to get an order in...but really want to see if this makes any difference.

THANK YOU for any help!

Usually means it gives us a choice in color because we might like to have pink.

Headgear size is headgear size and often ResMed will maybe offer a small in blue and in pink and tout the pink as for her size when in reality the size of the small is the same...just the color is different.

They don't have a different range of sizes in the for "her" packaging ....the small, medium and large of anything is going to be the same but the colors might be different and the small, medium, and large of anything in a standard package.

ResMed thinks women only care about colors and not actual measurements of anything that might help us figure out our sizing needs.
Must be male oriented R & D department and they don't realize we really care more about fit than we do color ...and heck I don't see colors so good with my eyes closed, in the dark, while asleep.

I just remembered...the ResMed AirFit P10 headgear does have different sizes and not just colors.
The blue regular headgear is about 2 inches bigger than the pink/gray for her headgear.
But we weren't talking about the P10 here.

I am familiar with the F20 and the F20 for her. My wife and I both use the F20. She tried the F20 for her when she first started, but did not like the straps. The F20 for her headgear is he same size as the regular F20 small headgear. The bottom straps are about an inch different in length, the straps that attach to the top of the mask are about a half inch different, and the strap that runs over the head has about a half inch difference. In all cases, the for her headgear is shorter in all measurements than the regular headgear. I ended up putting a regular headgear on my wife's mask and she likes it just fine. I continue to get the for her mask frame for her so I can easily tell which mask is which when I clean them.

Aha! so there IS a size difference... But...if I currently get the MEDIUM cushion in the regular F20 - would I still order the MEDIUM in For HER? I need the Medium cushion, but I would like the smaller headgear. What size does your wife use?

Thanks for the reply, this is exactly what I was hoping to learn!

The masks use the same cushion. The only difference in the two mask frames is the color of the magnets and the cloth coverings on the side of the mask. The regular mask has blue magnets and the cloth is a darker gray. The for her headgear is the same size as the small headgear. When we get supplies, I simply order medium cushions for each of us. My wife prefers the medium sized regular headgear and I use the same size headgear.
