Headaches from headgear straps

Post by blakesq » Thu Jan 07, 2021 7:47 am

Hi everyone. I have been using the following headgear for a few years now: ResMed AirFit™ F20 Full Face CPAP Mask with Headgear. It is a full face headear because I have bad sinuses, and my nose is often stuffy. In the last six months or so I’ve been getting headaches at the back of my head where the straps press against the back of my head. If I had to be specific, I would say the headache starts at the base of my skull on the back of my head where the straps press against my head. Any suggestions on alleviating these headaches? Are there some sort of a strap widener to better distribute the force of the straps against my head? Should i get my doctor to suggest different headgear? Thanks!

Are you having any cervical spine issues? Arthritis maybe?
Those headaches were one of the reasons I didn't really ever want to use a full face mask because almost all full face masks have straps that have to go around that area to anchor the lower part of a full face mask. In my case it was my bad neck making things worse.

And yes...there are strap pads to help diffuse the pressure.
You can buy them or make them if you are handy.

Look in product categories for strap pads...there are several kinds.
