Tape recommendations for mouth breather

Post by DurtGurl » Fri Dec 18, 2020 3:09 pm

Looking for recommendations on a tape that sticks well but does not irritate. I had okay luck with some cheap medical tape I had laying around but it was somewhat irritating and is almost gone. I'm sure someone has some favorites they can recommend! Thanks!

I have been using Somnifix the last few nights and, while it stays on all night, I end up breathing through it as the night goes on. Yes, I read the instructions and purse up my lips before I stick on the tape. Does that make me a serious mouth breather?

Durt,
I have used this tape and like it, but one inch tape like I've been using seems to not be wide enough for me.Otherwise it;s good, no problems.

I ordered this two inch tape but haven't gotten it yet, so I can't give an opinion.

not tape, but scuncis-

i've used jay's method from the link with some slight modifications. works a treat because in flattens the lips to teeth and keeps them there.

good luck!
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Brand name painters tape.
The no-name stuff sometimes smells bad.

I use 3M Micropore Surgical Tape, 2 Inch. Sometimes it sticks too well and it usually leaves a sticky residue that is hard to remove, but it works well for me.
It can be found on ebay and amazon.

I use Hypafix. It sticks VERY well and has never bothered my very sensitive/reactive skin. You can cut it to whatever size works best for you. It is slightly porous so I press my lips together a tiny bit when I apply it so that I don’t end up breathing through it. It’s not the easiest to remove so when I first started, I would fold over one or both ends a few millimeters.

(I am mostly new to CPAP but not to mouth taping, which I have done off and on for a few years at my SDB-aware dentist’s recommendation.)

Paper medical tape (marketed for sensitive skin) was great for my skin but often didn’t stick enough to last the night.
