Too high humidity in ResMed AirSense 10 ??

Post by Scubamom55 » Sat Dec 12, 2020 12:19 am

I have had a couple of occasions where my mask started making a strange vibrating sound. I narrowed it down to condensation in the tubes, particularly the mask tube where it fits into the tube from the machine. My humidity last night was set at 6, and my pressure was at 7.6. I don’t remember the settings the first time it happened, but I know it was higher—I was still on a trial machine, & my provider was setting everything. I now have my own machine & have been working on getting my settings right. I often use a chin strap as I am a mouth breather & often wake up with quite a dry mouth. I have lowered the humidity to 4 & my pressure to 7.4 for tonight.
Any ideas on why there would be condensation?
Thx for any & all input, Kathy

Cool room and warm humid air in the tube will cause condensation. Increase the room temperature, get a hose cover to insulate the hose if you are using a standard hose, get a heated hose, decrease the humidity setting. Any one or a combination of these things will help your "rainout".

See posts number 2 and 3 in the above thread for your various options on dealing with condensation either in the mask or hose.

Easiest one....increase the hose air temp if you are using a heated hose. If not using a heated hose then get one.
But you do have other options.

Thx all for the responses. I didn’t realize that I could increase the tube temp (I’m a fairly new user). Will try that tonight.
