there are 3 options in the menu based on the type of mask one uses: pillow, nasal & full.
does anyone know what the different settings actually due to the air output from the machine? does the larger masks get more of something than a smaller one? as the pressures have to be the same with any mask just wondering....
i ask because i ended up using the nasal setting with the pillow and it seems quieter. (i just ordered the AirTouch F20 to try, we'll see).
thanks,
jim
mask options in AirSense 10 machine
Re: mask options in AirSense 10 machine
It makes in insignificant difference...I think it has something to do with the leak calculation. Someone will be along to clarify.....

Re: mask options in AirSense 10 machine
Minor difference in excess leak calculations and a minor difference in how the flow is delivered depending on the mask's inherent resistance. Some nasal pillow mask and some nasal cushion masks will have almost identical inherent resistance.
Heck, I have used a full face mask while on a nasal pillow setting and remembered and changed it after a few nights...saw no significant difference in leak reporting nor did I feel any difference and the AHI didn't change. It isn't that critical of a setting IMHO.

Re: mask options in AirSense 10 machine
the large masks get a little *less* pressure, because there's less resistance in the larger masks, thus the machine doesn't need as pressure to counteract it.jim.evo wrote: ↑Mon Nov 23, 2020 3:08 pmthere are 3 options in the menu based on the type of mask one uses: pillow, nasal & full.

Using the nasal setting with the pillow means you've got a little *less* pressure than you should.

Re: mask options in AirSense 10 machine
PR, I suspect the difference would be proportionate to the size mask/interface used.
Even then, my thought is that it is usually insignificant.
