HDM Z2 questions

Post by Pasta » Fri Nov 20, 2020 10:00 pm

I just got a Z2 to use for backpacking and tried it out for a couple nights. So far so good, I like it. I already miss my ASV but at least I slept all night. I tried searching but can't find anything, am I right that I'm stuck with their app and that there's no 3rd party software that will work with it?

Also, it uses those humidification discs that are basically a sponge to trap and reuse your own moisture. I use an Airfit P10, am I right that because the P10 has at least a foot of hose built into the mask before it gets to where the humidifier would go it basically isn't doing anything and might as well be left off? I would think because of the constant positive pressure all of my exhale would be going out of the mask vents and not making it to the sponge. Tried it with the first night and without the second, not sure I saw a difference. Seems like deadweight and just another thing to annoy me hanging from my face.

Yes, you are stuck with their app. There isn't any other software that I know of like OSCAR that will work with the new machine.

Yes, it is unlikely that the little disc is helping much but I have heard of people wetting the disc down with tap water and that seemed to help a little bit. It is a drawback that there is a rather long distance for exhaled breath to travel through that short hose to get to the disc. The disc really has to be right up next to your nose to catch much moisture.

Hmm... I didn't think of getting the disc damp. Might have to try that.
