Do you like your pulse oximeter? Help!

Post by schaefage » Fri Mar 09, 2007 1:23 pm

Hello all,

Sorry about all of the pulse oximeter questions in advance.

I have read some of the posts about pulse oximeters. I am looking to see how you like your pulse oximeter? Does it have memory or not? Do you feel it is accurate? Does it have software and does the software cost extra? Where is the cheapest place to buy one with software and memory (I do know ebay sells them, but there are so many it is hard to choose)? Are there any pulse ox's that work with encore pro...so that I can just download data into encore pro??? I have read some posts about the spo 7500, and others, but which one is best and most cost effective.

Kent,

I have a Nellcor N-395 which works well for me. I was able to get an old version of the SCORE software for it from a local business (but it seems that I am the only one here who has managed to accomplish that).

The N-395 is a rugged and very reliable unit. Several others on this forum have also acquired N-395's and spoken well of them.

Fortunately, the N-395 is has a built-in graphical screen on it and all stored data can be seen from this built-in display. The main advantage software provides is the ability to store the data in files. So far as I know, the N-395 and N-595 are the only oximeters available which have a built-in display.

Regards,
Bill

Well, I have the Nonin Onyx finger pulse oximeter which is considered the "Cadillac" of finger pulse oximeters but it is not a recording pulse oximeter. It has always been "right on" every time I have checked it against my pulmonologist's recording oximeter and my hospital's Pulmonary Rehabilitation recording oximeter.

I also have the SPO 7500 recording pulse oximeter (fits on the wrist) and overall I like it. I have had problems w/it twice. But SPO Medical provides EXCELLENT support and they do not hesitate one second in replacing a problem unit. I double-check it w/my Nonin just to make sure since my first one was recording more favorable sats than my Nonin was. SPO Medical gave me NO grief whatsover when I told them the difference in sats and that I'd verified the Nonin w/my hospital's PR oximeter. I had a new SPO 7500 in less than 10 days. The software installs EASILY. I've provided printous of my SPO 7500 results to my sleep pulmo.

Slinky

Did you buy the 7500 directly from SPO Medical or from somewhere else?

Also, was the software an extra charge?

Thanks,

Kent

Software comes w/the SPO 7500 at no additional charge. I bought it online from some medical supply company I don't remember the name of. Do a google search on SPO 7500 and check the various prices. Expect around $450 I would think. Might be worthwhile to check out SPO Medical website.

I was going through my encore pro data today and I saw that there is a option to look at oximetery results...so I am thinking that there is a brand of oximeter that is meant to work with the encore pro software. Do any of your know which oximeter is made to work with encore software?

Thanks,

Kent
