Oscar and AHI

Post by jrcpapuser » Mon Oct 12, 2020 8:26 am

Starting on Sept 30th, Oscar starting reporting my AHI as 0.0! This has never happened before now and has continued each night since.

Previously, my AHI had been in the 1-2 range. My unresolved issue with my cpap is a large leak due to facial hair (short beard) and full face mask.

So -- Here are my guesses as to the cause:

1. Large leak has now overridden the AHI identification
2. Software glitch
3. Machine (hardware) glitch

Please give me some troubleshooting ideas.

Thanks in advance

First thing to try is the old fashioned reboot of the machine's internal software.

Unplug the machine from the power source and then plug back in and force the machine to reboot.
You will have to wait until after tonight's sleep session to see if it fixed the issues or not.

Is this a S9 model machine? This was a common thing with S9 machines it seems.

When I had the S9 model I had the AHI 0.0 night after night thing happen to me...reboot cleared it out.
Also sometimes it wasn't the AHI that got stuck at 0.0...it was something else that we know we just wouldn't have the same result night after night because it's a physical impossibility to have exact same thing night after night like a leak number stuck on 8.8 for a week.
Most of the time it was the AHI getting stuck on 0.0...and it's a machine software problem.
I know this because if I used ResScan...it reported the same thing so it wasn't OSCAR/SleepyHead software issues.

The forced reboot clears out the cobwebs...sort of like what we have to do with our computers sometimes when they act up.

The reboot won't fix the past errors though which is why you have to wait until a new sleep session to see if the machine is still stuck reporting the same thing over and over again.

Post some actual data,
Post your machine type,
Post some graphs.

This way we can see exactly what the large leaks are, or perhaps some other contributing factors.

Unplug the machine from the wall electric outlet for about 3 minutes or so.
Then plug it back in and let it do the usual start up.
Use the machine tonight.
Check data in the morning to see if you still see zeroes everywhere. If you don't...problem fixed by clearing out the cobwebs.
If you still see zeroes everywhere...you have a problem with the machine writing/recording data.

But I am willing to bet my last dollar the issues will be resolved.
