Haven't checked the forum in some time because things were going pretty well but I did try a search before posting. Sorry if I missed a discussion on this.
Once I finally settled on the Dreamwear Nasal mask, I was doing pretty well for close to a year but my husband would mention rushing air sounds and see me sleeping with my mouth open and I was noticing that as I shifted in my sleep, the mask would shift and I was having a harder time getting it to stay comfortably in place. So I saw they made a full face version that still sat under the nose and asked for that when I reordered this time. I've noticed some good and some bad.
The good stuff is that it seems more secure and I seems to be waking less and finding the best way to fit my hair around the straps in the back is a lot easier. I am a big fan of the headgear.
Then come the bad. First, when I tried to change the settings on my machine (Airsense 10) from nasal mask to full face, I thought the mask was going to blow right off my face it was blowing so hard. I switched it back to nasal and it's better but I do still feel it's not as easy to breathe with as the nasal alone. Is this just something to get used to? The second thing is that I've noticed some discomfort in my throat and my chest/stomach. For the throat/chest, is it possible that getting used to a full face is similar to getting used to a mask in the first place? For the stomach, is it possible I'm swallowing more air with this? That did happen occasionally with the nasal mask, but it was always easy to tell because it was accompanied with a fair bit of belching. This is more just an upset/discomfort sort of feeling.
And lastly, even though I am already using the small frame and cushion, it almost seems possible, the cushion is still a touch too big for my face. I did see ResMed makes a similar mask, the AirFit f30i. Has anyone compared these two masks? I would be curious to know if the small cushion on the AirFit might be a smaller fit than the Dreamwear.
Thanks for any input anyone has!

Re: Switching from Dreamwear Nasal to Dreamwear Full Face
I had to add extra fleece wraps to the DreamWear full face mask frame (was already using the small) to snug it up a bit more.
Do you have the side fleece wraps for the DreamWear?
Sorry...haven't seen the ResMed version of this mask so I can't compare sizes.
Changing mask types in the menu shouldn't make it "feel" that different. When I tried the DreamWear FFM I used it several days at the pillow selection before I remembered to change it to full face and I couldn't tell any difference at all. The mask selection doesn't change the pressure being delivered. Now the pressure is going to more diffused over a larger area as opposed to the more concentrated pressure going up the nose with a nasal mask. It can take a bit of getting used to because it "feels" different. The brain is used to one thing and anytime anything changes the brain takes a bit of time to adjust.
It is possible that with the full face mask you are mouth breathing more and maybe swallowing more air than usual causing belly issues.

Re: Switching from Dreamwear Nasal to Dreamwear Full Face
I do have the fleece wraps. I had used them with the nasal mask but when I put this mask on, I didn't notice any discomfort on my face so I hadn't put them on this one. I'll give that a try tonight to see if it makes a difference. Thanks for the input.
