Mask usage getting worse over past 6 months
Mask usage getting worse over past 6 months
So I've never quite mastered wearing the mask all night (except for a handful of times). I've been using the machine for a couple of years but not using it all night as you can imagine is not helping my daytime fatigue. I recently tried a new sleep doc and his idea was to narrow my pressure from 6-18 to 8-13, he thought the machine was having a hard time catching my apneas and 95% of my pressure was in this range. I was also supposed to go to this mask clinic to help me find the right mask that was shortly before COVID and that was put on the back burner as I wasnt going anywhere at that point. I've noticed my 95% cpap pressure (according to oscar) is like 12.80-12.90 now, the max is at 13. Since my visit Ive gained weight due to covid and my continued energy zap because of my apnea so I'm thinking that I need to at a minimum raise the top pressure back to 18. I am unfamiliar with Oscar (I used to use sleepyhead but that was also awhile ago) so if anyone has any ideas on what info I should post that would be great.

The 95% figure means that you were at OR BELOW that figure 95% of the night. Oscar is virtually the same as Sleepyhead. If you still have the Sleepyhead it's very easy to convert it to Oscar. https://www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR/

You don't mention what the AHI is????
BTW, most of us set the max at 20. The machine won't go any higher than it needs to. Setting it at 20 allows the machine to go higher on a rare night when your pressure needs are higher.

Your focus in your post is on your settings, but I wonder how you're doing with your current mask. Is it uncomfortable? Do leaks bother you? Do you take it off in your sleep?

My AHI is almost non existent most months its a 0.10 and 0.34. If I could keep it the mask on I think Id be doing very well.ChicagoGranny wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 9:33 amYou don't mention what the AHI is????

I have leaks, I had a major problem with leaks when I first started but now its down quite a bit. I dont think Im bothered by it, I dont have any leaks when I put it on. Yes I take it off in my sleep unconsiously, Ive found it on a night stand next to my bed in the morning sometimes but most of the time it is next to me on the other side of a queen bed. But it is very rare that I have it on when I wake up in the morning. Mask has gotten a bit uncomfortable 1-2 months ago when I switched my head gear thinking it was too loose now its too tight (its gotten a bit better but it is tight. I also had to switch the frame when it broke to an older one. Before I gained the weight the cushion was on the border of Medium and large but when I got Large it would leak horribly. Perhaps I need to get a large now that Ive gained the weight.Miss Emerita wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 9:58 amYour focus in your post is on your settings, but I wonder how you're doing with your current mask. Here's a summary from OSCAR
Disregard the last session column. I used to work overnights and now I work evenings but I still sleep from like 5-6am to 12-1pm and the system resets the day at 12pm I believe

What is happening that you aren't wearing the mask all night?
