Where can I buy a new machine? (no insurance)

Post by gentrify » Wed Oct 07, 2020 4:24 pm

Hello all. I am new to this forum, but I have been using a BiPAP device for several years. Can anyone recommend a reputable place from which to purchase a new machine? I’m looking for a ResMed AirCurve10 V-Auto. I do have a prescription from my doctor for the machine. I am not going to be going through insurance. I’m going to be paying for a machine out of pocket. My concern is that I will think I’m paying for and getting a new machine, but it will be a refurbished machine. I’m just looking for a reputable source from which to make a purchase. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Peace. ✌🏼😊

Do you have a prescription from a doctor for the machine?

Yes. I neglected to mention that. I edited my post.

I believe that www//.cpap.com, the sponsors of this forum might have that machine.
They only sell NEW machines--Rx required, of course.

OP specified new, but discounts for open box or refurbs might get his interest.
I like the fact that secondwind shares run hours with customers,
and refuse to handle high mileage blowers.

To me refurb means redone/repaired at the factory level.
I don't think secondwind repairs machines. They will clean and make sure they work like they are supposed to but I don't believe that they take a non correctly working machine and repair it and make it work again.
Now do they sometimes get refurbs from ResMed????? I don't know the answer to that question. One would have to ask the owner.
I wouldn't be afraid to buy a new open box deal from them if I wanted zero hour.
I also wouldn't be afraid to buy a gently used low hour machine.

In my mind there is a big difference between refurb and clean and make sure it works kind of stuff.

But if someone really for sure wants to avoid even remote possibility of getting a refurbished unit....cpap.com
They don't deal in refurbs at all. Some of the other online sellers do sell refurbs but they mention it. Are they totally honest about it...I dunno.

Just to note that I would look on Craigslist. You can do a US Craigslist Search on Tempest. I know others may frown on this, but I just bought my Dreamstation Auto BiPap machine from someone. It only had 68.5 Machine and Blower Hours. Gentleman said his wife used it while she was in the hospital and once they got home she wouldn't use it! This costs me $430 with postage! This same machine with my insurance would've costs me $1500+. I realize that I got a bargain, but if you are careful on what you purchase, you can find some deals like this. I was debating on several different machines but after speaking with my doctor, I decided to go with the DreamStation. AirCurve is supposed to be a phenomenal unit as well and there are some on Craigslist. That said, Is there a BUY and SELL LINK on this Forum. I would like to sell my older Machine to someone that needs it!

I found a similar deal on Facebook Markeplace. I picked up an Air Curve 10 VAUTO with less than 125 hours on it for $220. Deals are out there if you are lucky enough to find them.
