beard and full-face mask

Post by bluegrassmandolin » Thu Mar 08, 2007 3:47 pm

Has anyone (with a beard) had a problem with the seal on a full face mask? Should I switch or shave? Hopefully it was just an off night.

Thanks for any input!

It really depends on whether you have a pretty face.

I shaved, and it really helped with my mask leaks, but made the children cry.

There's a reason for the beard. My wife likes to hide as much of me as she can. Any other ideas I can try before switching?

I had my best success with the Nasal Gel mask. At least then you're only needing to seal the 'stache.

I have beard, albeit not real heavy, and the Hybrid worked fine for me.

Been able to use the Ultra and the Hybrid. with a pretty good seal. There always seems to be a little leakage, but not enough to affect the therapy. The biggest thing is to avoid leaks at the top of the nose that might blow into your eyes. Slight leaking aroudn the beard really shouldn't be a problem.

You might jsut have to live with the straps tighter to keep the beard. If you ever use a nasal mask, one tip is to shave a landing strip right under yoru nose so the maks seals agasint skin and not hair. It is hardly noticeable and really improves comfort.
